E-juice Tip #4
Keeping your E-juice happy is pretty easy, just some basic rules, Keep your bottle of juice out of direct sunlight, The UV Rays will turn your juice darker in color and compromise the flavor. If possible store in a shaded area such as a glove box or drawer.
E-juice Tip #2
Ingesting nicotine can be hazardous to your health, it smells delicious but E-juice with nicotine in it will make you sick or worse, the higher the nicotine MG the more hazardous the juice will be. So just keep in mind to keep it out of your body at all cost.
E-liquid can have as many or as few ingredients as you want, for the most part you will have around 3-6, components. Some companies put things like food coloring, sugar sweeteners, and stabilizers in the blend.
At Olympia Vapor Works we use good flavors that pair and compliment each other, and never use any type of coloring.
In our E-juice you will find
- PG – Propylene Glycol
- VG – Vegetable Glycerin
- Nicotine – Unless OMG
The reason we do not use any coloring in our blends is well, its no needed in anyway other than to look cool. As for sweeteners they are also not needed as long as you use good flavors and match them together in a way that they compliment each other.
- Nicotine Info -
Not all E-liquid has nicotine in it, all our blends can come nicotine free, but if you do want nicotine in your E-liquid than you have to know what strength you will need. Typically the nicotine amount in a bottle of E-liquid is measured in “mg“. The mg strength can range from 0 – 24 mg in strength. 24 mg being the strongest and 0 mg being with out nicotine.
Nicotine MG Strength Compared to Cigarettes
1-4 mg (Ultra Lights)
5-8 mg ( Lights)
9-13 mg ( Medium)
14-18 mg ( Medium/Heavy)
19-24 mg ( CHAIN SMOKER)
Propylene Glycol is the “Pg” in (Vg/Pg %), propylene glycol is a clear thin liquid, It has been used in hospitals to sanitize the air for decades. When Vaped Pg has a stronger throat hit that is a closer match to a traditional cig. Also Pg will carry flavor a little better than Vg will. Pg also has very little if no taste or smell to it.
PG is much thinner than Vg (vegetable glycerin). Having a higher percentage of Pg to Vg will make you juice thinner, making it absorbs into the fibers in your tank better.
Vegetable Glycerin is the “VG” par of VG/PG% Unlike PG, VG has very little to no throat hit, it also has a sweeter taste. Another reason people love VG is because of VG’s ability to produce vast amounts of vapor, Cloud comps will often use just VG to blow clouds
Being thicker then Pg a higher % of VG in your E-Juice will sometimes cause “dry hits” if you have a tank system,Such as kayfun, When Vaped VG is a little sweet
When choosing the mix between VG and PG in your mix you have to take into account a few things
- What type of tank system will I be using?
- Do you want that hard cig like throat hit?
- Do you care about HUGE CLOUDS?
If you are using a tank system like the ones with the pre made coils and cartomizers than you will want a mix around 50/50 PG/VG. The pre made coils have tiny holes that thicker juice cant wick as well and you will sometimes get dry hits.
If you like the harsh throat hit like a cigarette than you may also want a higher pg mix so something like 40/60 PG/VG.
If you want HUGE CLOUDS then you may want MAX VG. So anything over 70-75%VG should start to make you happy. There are many factors to big clouds but a high VG% will help greatly. We just happen to sell all our blends in MAX VG blend.
Most Common VG/PG %
E-juice Tip #3
Using a eyedropper to fill your tank or add juice to your cotton is the perfect tool for the job. They have a nice and steady flow
E-juice Tip #4
It is good practice to always shake / stir your bottle before you use it. PG, VG and flavoring all have different thickness and weight. Over time they can sometimes separate slightly.
E-juice Fact #5
If you are the type who can’t get enough clouds you can choose the “Max VG” option when choosing a flavor in our store. This will assure you always get the most VG possible.
What is Steeping?
Def -Act,”Steeping is the soaking in liquid (usually water) of a solid so as to extract flavours or to soften it”
Vaping kinda took the word Steeping and used it So now the act of Shaking, Mixing and Ageing your E-liquid are all called Steeping by most vapers. Some people and companies say the best way to do this is to take off the cap of your juice and let it sit in a dark cool place for anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks.
It really all depends on the manufacturer and how and what they use to make the E-juice. One thing I can tell you is OUR E-juice will never have to be Steeped or aged in order to get a delicious flavor, Steeping does bring out more flavor over time just like a fine wine does, All the little molecules have more time to blend and combine in the bottle.
What is Gunk?
Gunk – This is the stuff you get when you vape E-juice with Sugar sweeteners and other additives. Mostly sugar though. You know how sometimes you load up your tank and at the end of the day the juice in the tank is black or dark brown all of a sudden? That is GUNK.
If you run into this nasty stuff You will have to boil your tank to clean all that burnt sugar out of all the inlets of your tank.
You can also vape E-juice that does not have sugar or additives.
What did we learn?
E-juice that is 50/50 VG/PG is?
Thin | Flavorful | medium/heavy throat hit
E-juice that is 80/20 VG/PG is?
Thick | Produces huge clouds | easy throat hit
If you smoke Ultra Light Cigarettes!
You will most likely want 1-4mg Nicotine
