Bottom Feeder type mods – have been floating around for a while. Not really hitting mainstream but always present, in the background. Then a few small companies started to make production Mods like REO. But always Waiting for its time in the limelight. Well maybe that time is around the corner.
In this article we will be talking about Bottom Feeder Box Mods as well as the “All in One” Systems. The main difference is bottom feeders have a RDA on the top that the tank inside the mod feeds via a hole in the 510 connection. This is a slight difference but one I wanted to make clear
The idea of holding everything you need – to vape inside the mod/battery is a cool idea. It only seems like a natural progression to a cleaner simpler design. Recently some big names like Joyetech and Kanger have jumped into this “All in one” design.
How an traditional bottom feeder works – is you have the juice under than deck or coils. Usually, the juice is above the coils as I’m sure you already know. In a bottom feeder when you take a drag that action of taking the hit, sucks up more juice into the cotton. Keeping the cotton juiced and ready to rock.
Aspires First “All in One” Vaping Solution
Lately Aspire has stepped into the bottom feeder market and put out their own “All in One” Vaping system. One cool feature about the Plato is you can use the Plato coils or the popular Aspire Nautilus coils.
The tank on the Plato – holds up to 5.6mls when using 1.8Ω coils and up to 4.6mls when running the 0.4Ω coils. Compared to the Reo Bottom Feeder Mods that can hold around 3mls.(I still love Reo)
The Plato will fire up to – 50 Watts and can fire coils down to 0.1Ω – 3.0Ω in VW mode or 0.05 – 2.0Ω in TC mode. Over all this is a pretty slick little mod. I personally only vape up to about 50-60Ws so I’ve been thinking about picking one up for personal use. I have always like the idea of having everything in one simple package.
The airflow on the Plato is a little more complex than traditional All in one systems. You can actually adjust it. This feature has been needed for bottom feeders and Aspire gives you this.

One really amazing thing about the Reo Grand is you can buy a complete repair kit online to replace the guts for about $25. Plus to install the kit you only need a screwdriver and a video and a little know how. The Kanger NeBox – is another case of a big company venturing into the “All in One” Design territory. Nebox does not use other RTA’s or atties. Because of this you end up with a really slick looking box. With just a small drip tip sticking out of the square box. The tank in the Nebox is the amazing part. Able to hold up to 10mls of juice at one time. That will last a while for sure. Another reason why this is a great “on the go mod.”

Joyetech Ego AIO
The Joyetech Ego AIO – is another “All in one” device. Geared more towards the new vaper but still able to push out the watts needed for a little more vapor production. Not your traditional “Bottom Feeder” but it does hold the juice and tank inside the mod/battery section. Touted as a “leak proof design” the AIO is the perfect on the go device.
The tank on the AIO – holds 2mls of juice so if you vape a ton you may want to bring some juice with you if you leave for an extended period of time.
Being only 19mm in diameter the AIO is small enough to fit perfectly in your pocket.
Some other neat features with the AIO is that the tank section is illuminated with a small OLED from inside. You can change the color to one of the 7 other options by hitting a button and completely change the look of the mod. Another neat trick is this is the first “Child proof Device”. With a built-in locking system to help keep kids from firing the mod.

The Vmod XL is one of the more popular well-funded projects in the bottom feeder world. One thing I like about the Vmod is that it is powered by 18650 batteries, meaning you will be able to replace the battery when it goes bad. Unlike mods with built-in battery packs. The company claims that the Vmod XL can run for “3 days of serious vaping”. That is a bold statement. My triple 18650 mod won’t last that long.
The Vmod Xl uses the standard 510 connection – so you have plenty of options for an atty. The Vmod has a 2 chamber design meaning one chamber brings in fresh air while the other brings in the e-liquid in the built-in 9ml bottle.
Another interesting feature – with the Vmod Xl is the usage of a new Two-chamber design”. One of the chambers feeds the e-juice into the atty. While the second chamber brings in fresh air through its nose cone.
Vmod XL Specifications
- Powered by Single 18650
- Unique Dual Chamber Design
- Runs Silo 2.2Ω & Hybrid 2.0Ω Coils
- Used Standard 510 Connection
- Tank Capacity: 4.5mls
